Purpose
The primary role of the Assistant Pastor is to work in harmony with the Senior Pastor. The ideal candidate will understand and advance the purpose, values, and strategy of Estero Church. The Assistant Pastor position will focus on discipleship, missions, outreach, evangelism, teaching, and occasional preaching. The role of all pastors at Estero Church is to implement the vision and mission of the church, which is to Connect, Grow and Serve. Above all, the staff of Estero Church is expected to always demonstrate the love of Christ to others.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Pastor role will include, but not be limited to, the following duties:
- Pray for the church, staff, congregation, community, and other needs
- Model Christian service in every way, following the example of Jesus
- Disciple adults
- Cast vision for what discipleship means and how it is applied daily
- Oversee growth in discipleship for the congregation
- Transition adult disciple growth into effective service and witness
- Develop and implement annual and/or seasonal emphasis
- Manage and support small groups, recovery groups, and other ministries
- Organize classes for adults, recruit teachers, and support the programs
- Design, schedule and present retreats, conferences, and other special events for women, men, and families
- Coordinate interactions between ministries, offering support and guidance
- Coordinate Outreach and Evangelism
- Train and Equip Volunteers
- Work with our Missions Team (Faith Works)
- Perform pastoral care/congregational care as needed as a resource to the congregation
- Preach as scheduled in agreement with the Senior Pastor
- Teach upon request for studies, series, meetings, or other events
Availability
The Assistant Pastor will be available at the church during normal work hours. There are no normal work hours on Saturdays, and it is expected that a Sabbath be taken on one recurring weekday.
Accountability
The Assistant Pastor will be accountable to the Senior Pastor. This role should also be open to input and direction from the Staff Parish Relations committee.
Education
Ministry Degree or Christian Ministry Training is preferred but not necessary.
Experience
Ministry or Non-Profit experience preferred.
Compensation
Full-time, $50,000 - $60,000 based on experience.
